Senator Thomas Tom Carper disclosed nearly 40 trades in August he made, with the vast majority falling in the smaller value brackets.

Carper, the senior United States senator from Delaware, filed that his spouse sold Fidelity Advisor International Small Cap Fund Class A at $26.35. This was the share’s closing price on August 09.

This was a good decision given that the index, which invests at least 80% of assets in securities of companies with small market capitalizations, closed at $24.72 on September 05.

All other trades that Carper made were in the $1,000 - $15,000 category. The trading activity was mixed with the Senator’s spouse mostly buying and selling ETFs, funds, as well as individual stocks.

Carper is one of the more active Senators, although his trades are mostly in smaller sizes. The Senator made over 170 trades since the beginning of the year with the banking sector being the dominant theme of his trades. His biggest trade by size in recent years was selling $50,000 to $100,000 worth of Apple (AAPL: US) shares in November 2020.

Barclays (BARC: LN) and JPMorgan & Chase (JPM: US) are the two most actively-traded stocks in his portfolio. Hence, it comes as no surprise that Financials is the most popular sector that Carper trades, followed by IT and Industrials.

Carper’s trades, although not in big sizes, are closely followed given that he sits on the Finance committee. The Senator is also a member of the Committee on Environment & Public Works, as well as Homeland Security & Government Affairs.
