Congressman Ed Perlmutter, the U.S. representative for Colorado's 7th congressional district, disclosed that he made two trades recently.

Congressman Perlmutter bought shares of The Kroger Co (KR: US) on July 19 when KR’s stock price closed at $47.30. Mr. Perlmutter was late in reporting this trade as he filed 69 days later. Kroger shares trade about $3 lower than Perlmutter’s entry price amid the worsening market sentiment.

This marks the first time Perlmutter invested in Kroger in recent years, although the size of the trades is $1,000 - $15,000. Elsewhere, Kroger also invested the amount that falls under the same size range in ChargePoint Holdings Inc (CHPT: US), an American electric vehicle infrastructure company based in Campbell, California.

These two trades are the first made by the Congressman in months. In May, Mr. Perlmutter disclosed he was selling a bunch of stocks, including those of Amazon.com Inc (AMZN: US), Apple Inc (AAPL: US), Ford Motor Co (F: US), Microsoft Corp (MSFT: US), and Verizon Communication Inc (VZ: US).

Some of these stocks, including Apple, Microsoft, Ford, and Costco, are the most popular stocks that Congressman Perlmutter is trading. Hence, it’s not surprising that the most traded sectors are IT, Consumer Discretionary, and Communication Services.

Investors are closely watching the trades that Congressman Perlmutter is making as he sits on the House committees on Financial Services and Science, Space, and Technology. He is also a member of the committee on Modernization of Congress, as well as on Rules.
