Congressman Kevin Hern disclosed last week that he made 8 new trades in August, all of them being on the long side of the market.

His biggest trade in August was buying $50,000 - $100,000 worth of ASML Holding NV (ASML: US) shares on August 25 when ASML’s stock price closed at $539.74. ASML is one of the world’s largest chip makers with a market cap that exceeds $180 billion. However, Hern’s entry price isn’t great as ASML shares are down over 16.59%  since he made his buy trade.

Hern also made 3 buy trades in the $15,000 - $50,000 category, which includes companies like PTC Inc (PTC: US), Coterra Energy (CTRA: US), and Cadence Design Systems (CDNS: US).

Elsewhere, the Congressman also invested in shares of Accenture PLC (ACN: US), Magellan Midstream Partners (MMP: US), Oneok Inc (OKE: US), as well as another chipmaker Texas Instruments Inc (TXN: US).

Accenture, Oneok, and Texas Instruments are some of the most popular stocks traded by Hern in recent years. Judging by the volume, Hern’s favorite stock is Microsoft (MSFT: US). Energy, IT, and Healthcare are the three most traded sectors by the Representative from Oklahoma.

Hern’s trading activity in August isn’t surprising given that the Congressman, who represents Oklahoma's 1st congressional district, was also only buying stocks in July, albeit in smaller sizes.

His biggest trade of the year was done on April 12 when the Congressman bought $500,000 - $1,000,000 worth of Bank of Montreal (BMO: US) shares.

Kevin Hern is a member of the House Committee on Ways & Means.
